The Manager Advanced Manufacturing Engineering will be a key member of Ionic battery team focused on developing solid state polymer electrolyte lithium-ion energy storage. In this role, the Manager of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for leading and directing the Ionic Advanced Manufacturing Team. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Battery Technology and will establish and execute Ionic roadmap for the manufacturing of prototype large size solid state polymer electrolyte battery cell.


  • Collaborate with management team in creating a long-term commercialization roadmap for Ionic’s polymer electrolyte solution
  • Define and own stretch OKRs for Ionic’s advanced manufacturing technology function
  • Responsible for processes and equipment used for solid state polymer electrolyte prototype Li-ion cell manufacturing
  • Developing the process and documentation to produce solid state polymer electrolyte Li-ion cell.
  • Identification and implementation of process changes that improve performance, quality, or throughput
  • Utilization of structured problem-solving techniques to identify root cause and corrective actions for problems
  • Work with R&D during material development to ensure product manufacturability & scalability
  • Drive new technologies from lab to commercialization
  • Actively improve and drive process, productivity and quality improvements through measurement, detailed analysis, and sustained improvement with process control methods
  • Engage with partners to provide guidance on manufacturing processes on a routine basis
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for manufacturing personnel
  • Partner with R&D and product design teams to transfer new products into the prototype Li-ion cell manufacturing
  • Support APQP efforts to insure the delivery of a quality finished product and process.
  • Lead the development of PFMEA, process flow, and work instructions
  • Champion for environmental health & safety
  • Supervisory Responsibility – Influence other research/engineering groups with logical/honest/gentle product development principals
  • Travel to meet with material, equipment supplies and partners
  • Other duties as assigned


  • BSCHE/BSIE/BSEE/BSME from accredited college or university, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Experience. Experience with Lithium-ion battery manufacturing and/or extrusion coating development is preferred. At least 1 year of experience managing technical teams is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with taking a product from concept to commercialization
  • Experience with lithium-ion electrode processing strongly preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot product quality/process issues
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) required
  • Solid communication and organizational skills required
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Must be able to work in a low humidity environment (Dry Room)
  • Move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments
