SUMMARY:
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern will work with the Ionic Materials Battery team focused on developing solid-state polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion energy storage across one or more sub-projects. The role involves hands-on work in the lab as well as data analysis and communication of results. This may include preparing polymer-based battery materials, component characterization, rheological evaluation, and other experiments as required to support the project. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern should be pursuing a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a similarly related field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Currently pursuing a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a similarly related field
• Demonstrated strong academic track record.
• Experience working in a lab setting.
• Ability to follow experimental procedures and carefully document results.
• Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Solid communication and organizational skills
• Experience with polymer synthesis, battery materials, or electrochemistry preferred.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Preparation of polymers and polymer-based battery materials
• Analytical characterization of battery materials
• Rheological evaluation of battery materials
• Analysis of experimental data and communication of results to staff scientists and engineers.
• Follow all safety protocols while at work in a laboratory setting.
• Taking part in continuous improvement ideas
• Ability to work in a glove box and dry room.
• Follow, maintain, and improve SOPs in a laboratory setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Work in a dry room up to several hours per day
• Intermittent use of glove box
• Work with hazardous chemicals while wearing proper PPE and using engineering controls.
• Mixture of standing and sitting when working at lab benches, fume hoods, and operating equipment.
